This is a comedy, which might appear to be offensive on first glance but is actually a wonderful watch. It follows Megan, a high school cheerleader, who is sent to a homosexuality adjustment centre, following a parental 'intervention'. Unaware of her own sexuality, Megan goes through a process of quirky self discovery with an ending you will to happen.
This film plays up the stereotypes, and even introduces new ones, in relation to homosexuality and traditional gender roles. All girls love pink right? And cooking and cleaning? Whereas boys love blue and working outside? The film pokes fun at such suggestions with some truly comic moments, ensuring lots of laughs from the audience.
The soundtrack features some amazing tracks, including "Glass Vase Cello Case" by Tattle Tale and other quirky pop songs. Just like the film content, nothing is too serious.
Interestingly, however, this film does have some substance as it provides a passing glance over real issues in the modern world. Homosexuality and its acceptance, or lack of; family relationships and personal adjustment. The result is a fun, light-hearted film with a deeper element, should you wish to consider it. Good songs, genuinely funny moments and a heart warming ending...
